About this service

What is PDR — and when do you need it?

Paintless dent repair (PDR) is a technique for removing dents, dings, and hail damage by massaging the metal back into its original shape from behind the panel — without sanding, filling, or repainting. When the paint surface is intact and the metal hasn't stretched beyond its limit, PDR restores the panel completely, preserving your original factory finish.

Right situation

Signs you need this service

  • A parking-lot door ding or shopping cart hit
  • Hail damage — multiple shallow dents across a panel or roof
  • A minor crease that hasn't cracked or scraped the paint
  • You want the fastest, lowest-cost path to a perfect result
  • You want to preserve your original factory finish without repainting

The Morrey difference

Why factory certification matters for pdr.

Certified technique, not a side service

Our trained and certified technicians handle every PDR job in-house — nothing handed off to a mobile vendor. The same quality standards that govern our structural repairs apply here.

We won't push PDR where it doesn't belong

Some shops offer PDR on damage it won't fully correct — because it's faster and cheaper for them. We assess first. If PDR can achieve a factory result, great. If it can't, we tell you before we start and quote the right repair.

Hail season in BC — we're ready

A hailstorm can deposit dozens of dents across your roof, hood, and trunk in seconds. PDR is often the most efficient and cost-effective resolution, and it preserves the original paint that protects your vehicle. We handle ICBC hail claims the same way we handle everything else: we write it, you pay your deductible.

Original paint preserved

Repainting a panel — even expertly — introduces risk: colour match variance, overspray, and a break in the paint continuity that affects resale. When PDR is the right tool, your car leaves with the exact finish it arrived with.

How it works

How PDR works at Morrey Autobody & Glass.

  1. Step 1:

    Assessment

Your estimator examines the dent under specialized lighting to map the depth, shape, and access points. We confirm PDR is the appropriate method — and explain why or why not.

  2. Step 2:

    Access

Interior panels may be partially removed to reach the back of the damage. No cutting, no grinding — just access.

  3. Step 3:

    Restoration

Using precision rods and body picks, the technician works the metal back to its original contour — gradually, methodically. This takes minutes for a small ding and hours for extensive hail damage. The finish is checked under specialized light throughout.

  4. Step 4:

    Final inspection and delivery

The panel is inspected under lighting that reveals any remaining deviation. When it's right, it's done. Your car comes back clean.

Questions answered

Questions about pdr.

How do I know if PDR will work on my dent?
The main factors are paint integrity and metal condition. If the paint is unbroken and the metal hasn't stretched or cracked, PDR is usually the right answer. Send us a photo — our estimator can give you a preliminary read before you even drive in.
Is PDR covered by ICBC?
Yes, when the damage is the result of an insured event (hail, a collision, etc.), ICBC covers PDR as the appropriate repair method when it meets the repair standard. We handle the claim the same way we handle all ICBC work — directly.
Will my paint ever look the same as the rest of the car?
With PDR, your paint is never touched — so there's no question of matching. The original factory finish is preserved exactly as it was.
How long does PDR take?
A single door ding can take as little as 30–60 minutes. A hail-damaged roof and hood with multiple dents may take 4–8 hours or more. We give you a realistic time estimate when we assess.
Can PDR be done on any vehicle, including EVs?
Yes. PDR is a mechanical process that doesn't involve the vehicle's electrical systems. It's safe for EVs and hybrids. We're also high-voltage certified for any repair work that goes beyond the body panels.
